MEMBER LEVEL
Key Club members are high school students who join their local Key Club to serve their communities, develop leadership skills, and make a positive impact. Members participate in service projects, attend meetings, contribute to club activities, and represent the core of the organization. They have the opportunity to grow through hands-on service, leadership positions, and collaboration with peers at all levels of Key Club. For example, a member might volunteer at local events, help organize fundraisers, or take part in district-wide initiatives like the Governor’s Project or service challenges.
CLUB LEVEL
Key Clubs are established in a high school or equivalent institution. A community-based club also may be chartered. Elected officers can include president, one or more vice presidents, secretary, treasurer, editor and one director from each class.
DIVISION LEVEL
A division is a regional grouping of Key Clubs that is led by a divisional Lieutenant Governor. The Lieutenant Governor is a student leader who is elected at the annual Service Leadership Conference by the division and serves to support the Key Clubs in the division, promote membership development, and improve membership experience. For example, as of 2025, division 16 in the Michigan District contains the Key Clubs in the high schools of Sterling Heights, Stevenson, Utica, Gene L. Kilda Utica Academy of International Studies, Henry Ford II, and Eisenhower.
DISTRICT LEVEL
A district is composed of divisions that are then led by a student-led district board elected at the annual Service Leadership Conference, containing the Executive Board (District Governor, Secretary, Treasurer, Bulletin Editor, and Webmaster), 16 Lieutenant Governors (each leading a division), and Committee Chairs (chairing 5 committees in the district). The district board is responsible for supporting the Key Clubs within the district and ensuring long-term success and service leadership for our members. For example, as of 2025 there are 30 students on the district board (6 executive board members, 16 lieutenant governors, and 8 committee chairs)
INTERNATIONAL LEVEL
Key Club is an international, student-led organization with clubs worldwide. Key Club is led by the International Board who are elected at the annual International Convention, including the International President, Vice President, and 11 Trustees. An addition to the international level, the International Council is composed of the International Board and the Governors of their respective Districts.
