This is my subtle way of saying-hey, contact me if you ever need anything! I'm here for you :)
BUT ANNA YOU HAVE SO MANY THINGS TO LOOK AT!!! WHAT DO I DO?? THE WEBSITE? THE REMIND 101?? THE FACEBOOK GROUP??? HELP!!!
Okay, first of all relax a little, we're all hear to help! The reason I have so many means of contact is that I want to make sure every secretary gets the necessary resources. I'm going to put a list of ways to contact me below but DON'T freak out. Utilize one to two of these resources and you'll be good (use more and you'll be my BFF).
(Also, the list is in terms of how much I utilize each, but don't worry I check each of these every single week.)
--Facebook group (MIKC Secretaries 2016-17)
--Facebook group chat (add me--Anna Mylvaganam) and send me a message requesting to be added to the chat)
--Remind 101 (Text “@g88h4” to “81010”)
--inquiry on the club secretary page
But talk to everyone, not just me
I want to stress how important keeping in touch with the district is. When I was first serving as a club secretary I saw contacting district officers as simply paperwork for potential awards, but it's so much more than that. Each of us have unique experiences and perceptions of leadership, and we can help you out!
In addition, we have a TON of resources.
--Think your club is the only one having problems coming up with winter projects?
Think again- and Tyler is here to help.
--Think your club is the one that experiences that GINORMOUS member drop in the spring time?
Think again- and Charvi is here to help.
--Think your club is the one that only really talks to their Kiwanis for funding- or you don't feel close with any of your K-fam branches?
Think again- and Lacey is here to help.
--Think your club is the only one who get help jump-start a Key Club at a neighboring school and you have no idea how to start?
Think again- and Jacob is here to help.
And I'm not just saying this. During my term as a club officer I found myself in EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THOSE SITUATIONS. I asked my club leadership about it, and they had their ideas but they seemed pretty same old, same old. Some stuff worked and other things didn't. And I don't regret asking my president about those things, I just wished I had gone to the district level sooner.
The 4 individuals above? Their LITERAL JOB DESCRIPTION is to help you with whatever you need in their area of expertise. (Tyler is projects, Charvi is Membership Development, Lacey is K-fam, and Jacob is new club building.) They spend their whole year creating kits, sending emails, and creating new goals to better serve YOU.
So help them help you. Email each one of them now just to say hello. They'll appreciate it so much. And building a relationship with them now will help you be more comfortable asking them things in the future. Or maybe you have legitimate concern and really need their help. Believe me, these people are phenomenal. They are SUPER responsive. (And if they're not responding lemme know and I'll holler at them) :)
--Other great people to talk to--
YOUR LTG-- OMG THIS PERSON THOUGH. They spend their life trying to contact you. Believe me :)
They are your liaison on board. If you are like "hey, I don't like this thing" or "I literally have no idea what this Key Club thing is..." talk to them. They are YOUR rep.
AND THEIR NEWSLETTERS? READ THEM. PLEASE. I spent my freshman year not knowing who my LTG was, and not putting an effort to get to know them. One of my biggest regrets. Their newsletters literally have SO MUCH USEFUL INFORMATION.
And ask them for advice. Many of these guys are veterans and totally get what you're going through. Last year I was a little stressed about a situation in my club, etc and that's normal, it happens, but my LTG was able to help me through it. And yours can too.
BUT I'm here too!!!
If the chairs don't respond, your LTG doesn't email you back- here I am! (But talk to me even if they do :) Contacting you guys isn't my only responsibility, but it's certainly the most fun part of my job. Let me know if you EVER needs something, and I'm a phone call away <3
All in all, we're all here for you. We WANT you talk to us. In fact we're refreshing our emails waiting for yours. We want to serve you, but you need to let us. So email/text/message us right now.
Yours in service and friendship,
